Gold Coast City Council Incapable of Managing Our Natural Assets

Council has demonstrated that they do not deserve the right to manage the internationally protected Coombabah catchment or any other economically vital and unique natural assets.

I would like to make the following suggestion:

1. Continue to work towards discovering the source of this mud and determine who is responsible for this catastrophe, who will be held accountable and who will put in place and pay for an urgent and effective remediation plan.

2. Remove all future management responsibility and authority over this and other precious natural assets from GC Council and other Councils with a similar mindset.

3. Pass formal management responsibility to the State and Federal Governments with appropriate, experienced citizen group input and oversight. I believe that this action will go a long way towards helping these natural and unique assets remain immune from future local government incompetence and self interest and preserve them into the future.
