Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) turns catchment contamination crisis into farce
I lodged this morning a comprehensive and detailed complaint with the Local Government Ombudsman’s Office. I included a full Chronology of Events, the observed source of the mud/silt, emails describing urgent need for action over the months, detailing the GC Council and Councillors refusal to respond and/or take effective action to mitigate the damage.
The result was that early this afternoon LGO responded by stating that they had forwarded the complaint to GC Council for action. GC Council responded immediately stating that they were involved in joint investigations with DES (which I arranged due to GC Council’s failure to respond) and would respond at the conclusion of those investigations.
SUMMARY…LGO asked GC Council to investigate themselves! ????.
Never mind. I tried hard to deliver the highest level of recognition and justice that this unique, natural, high-value asset and the people of Queensland, Australia and international stakeholders deserve…The catchment looks pretty ill, how good do you feel right now?

Well done. The area looks so different to how it was two years ago, even one year, mud crabs are gone and there are sand bars everywhere. How this can happen on ‘protected’ land is just unfathomable. Keep at it Steve we are all behind you ✊
